

Richard Koya, M.D., Ph.D., Principal Investigator

Dr. Koya is Professor, University of Chicago School of Medicine, Biological Sciences Division, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Director of the cGMP Vector Development & Production at University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has more than 25 years of research experience in Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Gene Therapy, as well as clinical experience as a clinical oncologist. His long-term interest is comprised of the development of genetically engineered T cell-based adoptive transfer immunotherapies for cancer and novel strategies to boost anti-cancer responses. His current field of work includes novel strategies combining immunotherapy and gene therapy for cancer with a focus on translational approaches. In his capacity as the Director for GMP Vector Development and Production, he supervises the production of large-scale vector products to support gene therapy clinical trials.
